Moore warns ECC bid would destroy North Carolina higher education
Gov. Dan Moore in his third major speech to the 1967 North Carolina General Assembly urged denying East Carolina College independent university status. He warned it would ruin the one university concept, undermine the State Board of Higher Education, and bring educational chaos. He suggested delaying action on reducing UNC system trustees and restoring funds for the Durham Law School program.
