Demands for eight hour day sent by railroad workers
A joint committee representing 400000 engineers firemen conductors and yard workers submitted eight hour day and overtime pay demands to Southern and other railroads. Western lines rejected eight hour day. Wage terms include minute based overtime and no reductions from present pay for 100 mile days. Negotiations open with April 29 reply deadline.

Rome reports four Austrian aeroplanes were brought down during Monday’s air raid over the Venetian province. Eight Austrian officers were captured. the raid caused no major damage and only a few injuries were reported.
