John Henry Champion a negro ex convict who received executive clemency from Governor Craig admitted in recorder court this morning that he stole a diamond ring valued at about 250 dollars from D Elmer Spencer on Maple street. He was bound over to the May term of Superior court and claims liquor led to the act.
