N-Plant Pipe Cracks Minimized at Brunswick Plant
Raleigh AP Carolina Power and Light says a routine shutdown inspection found minor cracks in four inch pipes in the Brunswick No. 4 recirculation loops near Southport. Cracks do not go through the wall and pose no hazard. Plant manager Hollowell says corrective action will be taken before restart and the company has notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The unit out of service increases reliance on coal prices.
