Cities of Nashville and Augusta Ravaged by Weaving Fire

Fire raged for hours destroying 600 homes and several blocks of Augusta and Nashville, leaving thousands homeless and causing one death. The Augusta blaze began in a Dyer building area and spread via Broad Street, aided by 40 to 50 mph winds. Officials report heavy property losses and numerous injuries, with aid from nearby cities.

Corner Stone Ceremony At Wesley Memorial Church

The Wesley Memorial congregation in High Point will conduct a corner stone ceremony next Sunday. Bishop John C. Governor’s commuting decision draws mixed mail

Raleigh March 23. Governor Craig received mainly letters on his commuting the sentences of Ida Ball Warren and Samuel Christy. About three letters condemned the action while roughly twenty approved. Judges H. G. Connor and W. S. O'B. Robinson were among those who supported the governor.

Road to Greensboro route decision faces fair grounds path

County commissioners at a special meeting settled the Greensboro High Point highway route choosing the old road toward the fair grounds and Jamestown. They also accepted contributions totaling over 600 dollars to build a mile and a half of road from the Masonic home along the Guilford station route.

Dr. D A Stanton in charge of the Southern train No 45 wreck victims at Jamestown says as of Sunday evening most are improving. At noon he reported all patients are getting along very well today.

Four High Point deeds were filed in the county register of deeds office yesterday for small tracts. The list includes T and Andrew mortgagee transferring a lot 50 by 1 feet on Loft Street to O Kearns for 265 dollars, the heirs of Louise Davis to Jord Davis for 20 acres in High Point township, the Kearns heirs to O E Kearns in Park Way for 700 dollars, and Bascom Hoskins and wife to QO Kearns for 36 square feet in High Point township adjacent to F L Ragan for 325 dollars.
