Death of Utah skier at NCAA Championships shocks Winter Park field
The University of Utah downhill racer David Allen Novello, 20, was killed after his ski shed a binding and struck a tree on a 1.3 mile course. Utah Coach Ladd Christenson described the tragedy as terribly tough on the team which then withdrew from further competition. The meet continues with slalom and jumping amid the first death in memory at the NCAA ski championships.
