Hoover Commission Seeks Interior Dept Public Works Split
The Hoover Commission recommends Congress merge federal public works and natural resources into the Interior Department. It would strip army control of civilian river harbor dam and flood projects and have Interior oversee public buildings and other agency construction. The plan, prepared for Capitol Hill, aims to end duplicative efforts and consolidate projects under one agency. Former President Hoover, commission chairman, warns against lobbying by army engineers and argues for a unified federal works body.
