Life Assurance Co of Carolina posts six year high

Premium income rose to 2,789,084 in 1970 from 2,254,012 in 1969, an increase of 23 percent. Life insurance in force grew to 169,776,634 from 141,154,435. Admitted assets increased 5 percent to 3,731,674 from 3,542,894, Grover H. Cole, president, said in a report.

NCNB Names Sidney Warner Senior Officer in Thomasville

Sidney R. Warner of Raleigh has been appointed senior loan and administrative officer for the Thomasville NCNB offices. He becomes vice president and metropolitan director for NCNB in Raleigh and will assume new duties in March. A Bladen County native and UNC Chapel Hill graduate, Warner joined NCNB in 1965 after four years with Nationwide Insurance.

Car Insurance Plan to Expand Substandard Coverage

The proposal would require drivers to obtain policies through agencies offering substandard physical damage insurance at 225 to 250 percent above normal rates. Under an assigned risk plan, drivers with perfect records could get $50 deductible collision and comprehensive coverage at regular rates. No surcharge for one point. two or more points incur a 50 percent first year surcharge, then recalculated by the program’s claims experience.

Hijacker Surrenders On National Airlines Flight

FBI in Miami took into custody a gunman who hijacked National Airlines Flight 475 from Pensacola to Mobile. He forced crew to pilot toward Canada, then surrendered in Miami after a three hour ordeal. The suspect, armed with a .38 pistol, was accompanied by a nervous young woman at Mobile.
