Indictments for false income tax filings hit two North Carolina officials
Dr. N M Harrison a High Point Methodist minister and ex vice president of High Point College and O R Blaylock of Asheboro were indicted by a Rockingham Middle district grand jury for filing false and fraudulent excess profit taxes for Seward Cotton Mills Worthville and for personal income tax false returns over 1943 to 1946. The government says reported company income and personal incomes were significantly understated. Harrison issued a statement from High Point denouncing tax evasion claims and noting prior voluntary payments after audits. The cases will be tried in June in Greensboro before Judge Wilson Warlick, with Williams Machine Company case also set for that term.
