Carrick avenue was ordered for paving with no start date announced.
Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Wagstaff and their daughter Miss Jewell Wagstaff narrowly survived a plunge down a 12 foot embankment on the High Point Thomasville road. Mr. Wagstaff suffered a broken rib and cuts but is expected to recover while Mrs. Wagstaff and Jewell were only shocked. The car skidded on ice and rolled three times before passersby carried them to a Thomasville physician. Mr. Wagstaff, Amazon Cotton mill superintendent and former Thomasville city council member, is well known locally.

Two and a half year old Little Mable Hemric sustained serious burns after her clothing ignited from an open grate in her Campbell street home. Her mother, Mrs. H. W. Hemric, ran to help and was mildly burned while extinguishing the flames. Doctor C. S. Grayson assessed the child as seriously burned on the back but likely to recover. the mother’s injuries were not serious.
Winston Salem February 7 C M Sawyer who was sentenced to eight years in the state penitentiary for conspiracy to burn his store has withdrawn his petition to the supreme court and has been taken to Raleigh to begin his term.
A false fire alarm at box 26 at 8 pm gave Fireman Beeman of the North Side station his first ride on the big fire truck. The crew said Beeman handled the truck like a veteran and met their high expectations, leaving them pleased with his performance.
The Craven County board of commissioners sends a resolution in New Bern urging the general assembly to report unfavorably pending legislation. It seeks to block adding two county commissioners and establishing a three member road commission at 2500 dollars yearly.
