Nixon Leads Muskie as Wallace Persists in Poll
A national poll of 1,480 likely voters conducted Feb 8–14 shows Nixon at 44 to 40 percent against Muskie and 47 to 36 percent against Humphrey. Wallace edges 11–12 percent as a third party. Wallace’s removal narrows Nixon’s edge over Muskie to two points. Wallace affects Nixon-Humphrey matchups with a larger Nixon margin when eliminated.
