County Plans $35 Million Bond Issue
Guilford County may ask voters to approve eight bond issues totaling 35.8 million dollars in a summer referendum. The plan funds new and improved schools a new jail water and sewer extensions and a waste disposal system as part of a 49.5 million dollar spending program. Five Get Active Sentences in District Court
Five persons received active sentences Friday in District Court. Bobby Gene Carson of High Point faced 12 month suspended sentence for driving during revocation and driving under the influence. Danny Gill Deans of Rocky Mount got 10 days for not having a driver’s license. Robert Junior White, 38, of New Street received 10 days for disturbing the peace. Emmett Jefferson Murphy, 38, of E Russell Street, got five days for beer and wine ordinance violation. Marshall Ben Treece, 9, of Steele Street received five days for disturbing the peace, with a six month suspended sentence and $16 fine plus costs for merchandise concealment. John Howze of Oneka Street received a suspended sentence and $25 costs on larceny. Prayer for haste was continued against Ethel Mae Houston of Windley Street for assault with a deadly weapon and other charges, with further proceedings noted.
