Israel Claims Two MIGs Shot Down
Israel says its jets shot down two Egyptian MIG21s nineteen miles west of the Suez Canal in a brief dogfight. The Israeli military reports 74 Egyptian warplanes downed on the Suez front since 1967. Nearby, Israeli forces clashed with guerrillas on the Lebanese border with one soldier killed and two wounded, and Gaza City saw a shooting as troops searched for terrorists. In Jordanian front action, Israel says it killed three and captured three in a raid across the Dead Sea aimed at thwarting an amphibious strike. Interrogation reportedly reveals plans for an armed crossing with 130mm rockets and Ka tusha carriers.
