Witnesses Claim Voice Of America Held Hebrew Broadcasts

Two Voice officials testified before Sen. McCarthy's subcommittee that the State Department ordered suspension of Hebrew language VOA broadcasts just as Soviet anti Semitic campaigns intensified. Gerald Dooher and Dr Sidney Glazer said the directive was signed by Red Harris and later rescinded by Wilson Compton. Glazer noted VOA used broadcasts to Israel and other Jewish communities, while Compton said action remained under review. Details followed an executive session with Raymond Gram Swing's testimony.
