Unlucky rookie Wensloff shines despite 4-4 mark
Charley Wensloff of the New York Yankees pitched four hits in a 2-2 tie with Boston in 11 innings after darkness halted play. An unusual misplay on a batter out of turn nullified a run, leaving Wensloff with a hard luck record as the Yankees struggled against a split day in the majors. The day also saw the White Sox, A's, and Tigers win, while the Cubs and Phillies shut out the NL leaders.
