Kerr Lake Level Sets Record Crest Seen at 313.5 Feet

Kerr Lake in central North Carolina reached a record high of 310.2 feet with engineers forecasting a crest near 313.5 feet Tuesday. Feeder streams pour 130000 cubic feet per second into the lake while only 20000 cfs are released downstream to limit flooding. The rising waters affect campsites and roads near the Kerr Reservoir on the North Carolina Virginia border, with barriered bridges posing hazards to boaters.
