North Carolina Orthopedic Hospital at Gastonia Faces Possible Closure
Officials warn the 55 year old facility may die a natural death if kept only as an orthopedic hospital. Consideration is given to repurposing as a multi disciplinary center for long term treatment of children or dissolving the institution. The Gastonia hospital may close June 3 if a new medical director is not found and would require upgrades of about 3 million dollars to meet federal standards.
