Government Gains From Cotton Price Support Profits
The Agriculture Department announced a new plan in which profits from resale of government taken cotton go to the government rather than farmers. Loans on the 1952 crop will be extended a year, enabling producers to wait for higher prices and redeem or sell. By Aug. 1, 1954, any unrecovered cotton is to be purchased by the CCC, with profits or losses borne by the government.
