Bell plans crime fighting shakeup at Justice Dept
Attorney General Griffin Bell discusses reorganizing the Justice Department to trim agencies such as the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Immigration and Naturalization Service. He favors merging essential work into the department or shifting functions elsewhere and may abolish most or all agencies that disperse federal crime fighting funds. He will propose consolidated missions and broader money-sharing with states.
