State agency hiring gaps show fluctuating minority employment
The commission found wide swings in minority hiring. From 1964–66 minorities were 13 percent of new state workers, 1966–68 rose to over 28 percent, but since 1968 dropped to 16.6 percent. Some agencies push equal opportunity goals while others stay numerically passive.
Delayed Plans Postponed Final Hearing Date Unset
The commission rejected the proposed plans as incorrect and incomplete and engineers promised resubmission in about 60 days. A corridor hearing was set for March 15 1972 with a potential final design hearing in May 1972 if Wilbur Smith and Associates provided final engineering plans. No final plans have been furnished yet.
