Eisenhower Won't Commit To Run In 1956 Says Main Focus Is World Problems
President Eisenhower indicated he has not decided about seeking a second term in 1956 and emphasized that global issues occupy his attention. He noted Adams referenced three possible factors that might influence a decision, but declined to reveal the others. He refused to pledge on price supports or butter and dairy levels, endorsing gradual farm policy changes and warning against rapid price fluctuations. He described trade with the USSR as complex, arguing for a balance that avoids pushing satellites toward Moscow while restraining Soviet influence.
