France's Exiled Politician Sees Democracies Winning
Pierre Cot, France's prewar air minister and now a fugitive with Yale teaching duties, argues Hitler’s defeat is likely through a mix of military action and widespread European resistance. He notes France's air force failures, warns of continued war length, and predicts a postwar Europe built on democracy extending to economy and international affairs. Cot criticizes Vichy and calls for renewed unity among democracies. He stays in New Haven teaching a graduate class while planning a study of French political institutions between the wars.
