County Budget Work Pushed By Jim Hawkins
Guilford County's 1964 65 budget is taking shape with restraint and possible cuts. County Manager Carl Johnson says funds may be insufficient to meet new needs, delaying normal growth and limiting additions. The plan targets 14.3 million current year spending with an 89 cent tax rate and a 1.096 billion valuation under review. Johnson expects decisions after department head meetings, with school funding around 1.8 million and capital outlay near 250 thousand for the Guilford County Industrial Education Center. Public display to follow before final action, as valuations and personnel needs drive changes.
