Nation of Nations exhibition at Smithsonian spans immigrant cultures
The Smithsonian's new A Nation of Nations exhibit, five years in the making at a $27 million cost, presents 6000 items across four major sections to show how immigrants from many nations shaped America while preserving their cultures. From Jefferson's desk to an Indian arrowhead, Mayflower looking glass, Yankee Stadium ticket booth, and Ft Belvoir latrine, the exhibit argues both melting pot and cultural persistence, highlighting travel, work, religion, prejudice, naturalization, politics, sports, and mass culture in a broad, period-voiced panorama.

Helen Reddy Wins Order Barring Film
Los Angeles AP reports singer Helen Reddy won an injunction barring a film of her performing at state fairs. The order against Theatrical Corp of America, identical to a May injunction, remains until the civil suit goes to trial. No trial date set. Jeff Wald and associates say the film would harm her career and host appearances.
