Summer nutrition program starts for 1600 youths
Model Cities sponsors a three site summer program serving 1,600 children ages 5 to 21 with hot and cold lunches at Hillside Park Carson Stout Center Daniel Brooks Center J C Morgan Center Harville Park Washington Terrace Green Street Park and youth programs at Mary Bethune YWCA Carl Chavis YMCA Youth Unlimited camp High Point College camp Salvation Army Boys Club and Cultural Arts. Ninety percent of the cost is covered by the North Carolina School Food Services Division with $9,000 in in kind support from Model Cities and partners. Registration and meals begin June 12 at the sites and run through August 18 with eligibility based on active participation in a listed program.

All Ages YMCA Announces Summer Swim Classes Schedule
The High Point YMCA opens a summer program with swimming classes and a Summer Fun Club featuring visits to places of interest and a Big Wheel Bike Club meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays. Swim classes run various mornings and some evenings, plus gym activities and an evening gymnastics class for youth.
