Guilford County Faces Jail Fee Revisions and Facility Costs
Guilford County Commissioners discussed jail fee changes including a proposed 7 percent entering fee and 75 cent leaving fee for cases without meals, potentially limiting crowding. They reviewed a plan to charge inmates not fed, maintaining 2.50 per 24 hours when meals are provided, and considered building a new jail in three to five years. The County Attorney explained the sheriff and court requirements, with no action taken but continuing study. Additional actions included tax payment discounts and travel authorization for the annual County Officials Convention in Morehead City.
