June 3 North Carolina. In Craven county a severe wind and rain storm struck Dover at about 4 30 am destroying the Norfolk Southern station and unroofing other buildings in the area. Warehouses were demolished and trees uprooted. Capt J B Davis reported a wide path through New Bern with extensive property damage and downed telephone wires. Ashland Kentucky June 3 The Jenkins correspondent of the Independent reports by telephone that total flood fatalities within 20 miles of Jenkins would not exceed nine. At Elsie Coal six miles from Whitesburg one child died and at Noon three were reported lost. Mine damages near Jenkins were minor but on the McRoberts side the Louisville and Nashville railroad tracks were washed out, tying up trains to Lexington for about 30 days.
