Slain Family Knew Lives Were In Danger In Brazil
Winston-Salem based missionary Jule C. Spach says the Davis family of Chapel Hill owned cattle and timber on a 220000 acre Brazilian ranch and had informed the State Department two months earlier that their lives were in danger. He returned from Brazil after investigating last month’s killings of Bruce Davis Mallory Davis and John Davis by 50 to 80 gunmen who blocked a road amid land disputes. Authorities see the killings as linked to ownership disputes with squatters. The Davis family had attracted investors in North Carolina for development.
