Funeral of Rt Rev Leo Hard in Belmont Abbey

The funeral for Rt Rev Leo Hard bishop of North Carolina and abbott of Belmont Abbey, North Carolina, drew church dignitaries from across the country. The service included a pontifical requiem mass and burial in the abbey cemetery beside ten Benedictine monks, with Abbot Ernest presiding. The election of a new abbot will be held within about thirty days.

Plans for erection of East Green Street Baptist church

Preparations to build a new church on the present site and a new parsonage on Hammond property proceed. The old church and parsonage will be moved from East Green street and ManEum avenue, freeing space for a 160 by 120 foot church lot and a 60 by 150 foot parsonage. The project aims to create one of the citys finest churches once finished.

Funeral for Franklin McNeill in Laurinburg at 5 PM
