Ground breaking for the Fairview Methodist Church will be held Sunday with construction to begin Monday on the Old Greensboro Road site beside the current building. Rev. F A Wright district superintendent Herman Nicholson and the building committee led by M B Jones will participate as the new plant is built in units. The first unit is expected to set the stage for a larger project.
Homecoming scheduled for Sunday July 21 at Mt Olive Pilgrim Holiness Church of Sophia with Rev W Cockman as speaker. Evening singing planned, project cost appears 959000 for thirteen classrooms assembly room pastor study and kitchen facilities designated as an educational unit. Wilson Brothers Co Inc Rural Hall acts as general contractor for the first unit with plans by Dufvard L Maddocks Winston-Salem.

North Carolina Methodist workers Rev and Mrs John Stroud urge churches to house at least 59 Cuban refugee families. The Strouds, long time Cuban helpers, head the Cherokee Center in the Western North Carolina Conference. Refugees in Miami live with government aid while hoping to return to Cuba. The Strouds have ministered to Cuban refugees since 1943 and recently relocated to High Point after serving in Miami Chandler and Lubbock.
Mount Vernon Methodist Church launches a summer program for youths from Sunday evening through August 1. Activities begin at 6 pm at the church hut with recreation classes devotion and fellowship singing. Sessions end at 6 45 pm for junior and senior high older youth and adult groups. Providence Wesleyan Methodist Church hosts Rev Tony Ross new pastor of Bible Missionary Church at Wesleyan Methodist Church tonight at 7:30. Ross, native of Duncan Oklahoma, is Bethany College graduate and has held pastorates in Oklahoma. The church is on Fairfield Road near Allen Jay School.
