Shrink Repellent Used To Halt Certain Cancers
Paris July 17 TEM a chemical once used to prevent fabric shrinkage is reported to shrink or halt some cancers for a time at the fifth international cancer research congress. Dr. C Chester Stock and Sonia M Buckley of the Sloan Kettering Institute described TEM as effective against Hodgkins disease and some leukemia with temporary benefits. TEM can be swallowed without nausea unlike nitrogen mustards. The team noted only nine of 3,000 chemicals showed anti cancer activity in mice. Researchers warned cancer cells may develop resistance to anti vitamin drugs, complicating lasting cures.
