Integration Moves Ahead In Virginia
In Virginia, public school integration will reach two more localities this September as the State Department and the State Placement Board plan further cross district transfers. The board admitted 94 Black students to white or mostly white schools during a three day session, while only three additional placements were made to extend integration, with none in Stafford County and one in Prince William County marking a first breach there. The other assignments went to already integrated areas. 185 transfer requests were denied due to academic or capacity concerns.
