Methodist Church Drive Brings Polk County to Wake Up

In Columbus North Carolina a 30 member Methodist lay delegation will survey Polk County July 20 in Evans Store at 7 pm seeking interest in forming a new church. The plan targets Col. Columbus area residents with Sunday worship to begin July 30 at the Seventhday Adventist church a mile outside Columbus. If responses prove strong, a congregation will organize and purchase property with a first unit costing about 25000 dollars.

First Lutheran service kicks off new Archdale church

The first service of the new Lutheran Church in Archdale will be held Sunday morning at 1. Huggins, the pastor, leads in the home of Jacob N. Wagner at 313 Tar Heel Dr off Highway 311. The basement has become a small church with an altar, pulpit, hymnals, pews and furnishings. Up to 50 persons have joined, with more expected, as Rev. Huggins says the church is poised to grow quickly in the area.

Aid Sought For One Room Schools

The Rev Dr John Baxter Howes of Wesley Theological Seminary argues USDA rules block surplus foods for school lunches in one room schools. He cites 23 965 such schools serving over 400 000 pupils and says most have electricity but no full kitchens. He urges policy review to allow use of surplus foods in these classrooms.
