City Council weighs plan to curb and gutter dirt streets
City planners consider a proposal offering paved streets with curb and guttering to property owners at a cost near the curb. If approved, residents with 50-foot lots would pay about 100 to 125 dollars for pavement and guttering, versus roughly 50 dollars for cheap graded surfacing. Cash in advance and petitions from property owners would govern the project. Powell Bill funds are largely committed, with a possible six percent increase due to gas tax revenue underestimation.
