Hoy Hill Dies Suddenly at Work in Forsyth County

Hoy Hill 54 died from a sudden attack Friday afternoon at Walker Furniture in Winston-Salem on Jacobs Street. He resided with his family on Thomasville Road and was a Forsyth County resident. Survived by wife Missie Scott two sons Earlie Hill and Shirley Hill of High Point Route 6. three daughters Mrs Arthur Cox and Mrs Herman Cox of Winston-Salem Route 6. three brothers Hill of Virginia Gilbert Winston-Salem and Dale Lewisville. two sisters Coral Dull of Clemmonsville and Mrs Addie Jackson of Arcadia. Body taken to Yow's Funeral Home. Funeral at Mt Oliver Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with a service at his brother in law Web Scott's home at 1:15. Officiating ministers listed. Burial in Mt Oliver Cemetery.

City Court Cases Postponed Until Friday Morning

City Court clerk M W Nash said all cases set for Monday and Wednesday of next week would be moved to Friday pending completion of superior court session. Luther was found innocent of operating a vehicle under the influence after a lengthy jury trial. Kepley was found not guilty of larceny from his roommate. Of 141 cases slated this week, 25 had capituses waived and 110 were disposed of before jury sessions.

Promptness Ranked Top By Farmers In Credit Needs

Merle E. Selecman, deputy manager of the American Bankers Association, told the North Carolina Bankers conference that a poll of 34,000 farmers found one third rank promptness as the main credit need. Interest rate and total cost followed, with 28 percent, and 24 percent valued convenient payment law and freedom from red tape.

R T Fowler Dies of Heart Attack at Home

Richard Thomas Fowler aged 48 died of a heart attack at his home on Route 3 Friday afternoon. He had worked with R D Fowler Motor Lines and led the Fowler farm on Fairfield Road. Born November 18 1895 in Johnson City Tennessee he leaves a wife formerly Martha Gordon, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral arrangements pending arrival of his Portland brother with interment in Oakwood Cemetery.

Police Raid Negro Home Seizes Homebrew. Several Arrests Made

Police raided a Leonard street home finding five gallons of homebrew. Ruby McLean was charged with violating prohibition and bonded at $100. James Gulledge, 23, of Tate street, held on $300 bond for assault with a deadly weapon after a rock attack on Janue Jenkins. Thomas Kennon, 17, and John Lovett tied to an affray at 605 Leonard and 917 West Green streets, with bonds totaling $400 and $200 respectively.

Sgt Leazer Drowns in Florida Parachute Training

A. L. Leazer 24 son of Mrs Blanche Leazer Greensboro drowned when he parachuted from a training Flying Fortress plane in Florida during a routine combat exercise. He entered service in 19 and served 19 months overseas with 19 bombing missions earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. Whitleys to Visit Here for Brief Naval Family Reunion

Ensign Joe Whitley USN and Lieut D P Whitley USNR, both recently in the Pacific, are due home on brief leaves. Joe, a 1943 Naval Academy graduate, has served aboard a Pacific fleet battleship and is visiting his parents at 323 Woodrow Avenue. D P Whitley, after 21 months in the Pacific, is stationed in Washington DC and also expected home next week. The brothers have not met since February 1942.

May Try Two Officers Before December 7

The possibility courts martial may be organized before December 7 for the trials of Rear Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and Major General Walter C. Short was suggested.
