Walter Black the Thomasville Blacksmith Under the White Oak
Walter Black of Route 2 Lexington and his son meet under a giant white oak 100 feet wide and 20 feet around. The tree shelters his 1909 shop and years of work at blacksmithing in Davidson and Thomasville. Now retired in name only, he still sharpens blades and hones hammers for local farmers.
