Session ends as NC General Assembly adjourns after 123 days
The 1977 North Carolina General Assembly adjourned Friday night after 123 days with a record 2,450 bills. Gov. Jim Hunt saw many programs enacted including a constitutional amendment for a second term, statewide school testing, and a large $8 billion budget. Senate bills on pornography control and nurse practice orders passed, while ERA reconsideration failed. The session will reconvene May 31, 1978 to complete remaining actions.
