Truman Signs Control Bill Price Ceiling Draws Fire
President Truman signed a control bill setting price ceilings affecting about 75 000 industrial firms with rollbacks. DiSalle warned that dropping rollbacks would cost the public up to 2.5 billion dollars yearly while Taft argued current measures fuel inflation and that rollbacks cannot be fully restored without subsidies. Meantime the House plans a separate debate on banning future beef rollbacks as DiSalle signals the administration could accept the House approach.
