Duke Clinic Detects Eye Cancer In Children At Duke Center
At Duke University Medical Center a new Children’s Eye Clinic screens young patients under anesthesia to diagnose eye diseases without surgery. The program, led by Dr. Arthur C. Chandler Jr., reports retinoblastoma in about one per 25 000 births and notes 90 percent cure if caught early. Other conditions include congenital cataracts glaucoma and parasitic infections.
