Winter Market Ends With Strong Show and Optimism
The Southern Farnite and Rug Market closed a record winter show with about 1350 buyers from a dozen states. Retail demand remained healthy, with little speculation and rising prices expected as lumber and manufacturing costs push furniture prices higher. Managers foresee strong southern support for the midsummer show July 16 to 28 and note lines not currently at the market showing interest in space. The final registration lists buyers and representatives from Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio, New York, and North Carolina firms.
