Little Effect Made On Sales Tax By Fees At Hearing
A Wake County farmer underscored opposition to the general sales tax during a Joint Finance Committee hearing in Raleigh. Speakers argued the tax is an emergency measure no longer needed, while others urged keeping it as a contingency tool amid a large state surplus. The committee appeared noncommittal, with the enduring sales levy likely to stay in place.
