Snow and Frost Facts From Uncle Ray
Uncle Ray answers pupil questions about snow. Snow is ice crystals from water in the air and resembles frost but forms in free air. Most flakes have six sides or points, some triangles. two flakes never look alike. Snow falls slower than rain since it is lighter and airier. It takes 10 to 12 quarts of fresh snow to yield one quart of water. older packed snow yields less water. Snow cleans air by removing dust, leaving a fresh smell after a snowfall.
