Greensboro, Jan 27 Special Archie Saferight 22 Thomas Eddie Crawford of High Point and M J Moore 25 of Atlanta were held on robbery charges in the January 7 1936 Seward mill hit at Worthville which netted about 2000. The trio allegedly entered the mill office locked in two officers and fled with payroll and a small safe haul. Saferight was captured January 20 in Greensboro while Crawford and Moore were arrested near Gibsonville.

The passenger liner Amapala of Standard Fruit and Steamship collided with the tanker Camden in the Mississippi River at Bolivar Point about 60 miles below New Orleans.
