Path to Regaining Citizenship After Conviction

A person may petition the Superior Court Division after two years from discharge to seek restoration of lost citizenship rights including voting and public office. The petition, filed in the applicant’s county or the indictment county, requires conviction details and meritorious reasons. The court advertises the petition, examines testimony, and requires five witnesses of good character for three years prior to filing.

Mansfield Warns Congress To Watch Southeast Asia More Closely

Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield told a Democratic caucus at the opening of the new Congress that vigilance over U S involvement in Southeast Asia must be heightened. He warned the administration may have distorted aims of anti escalation legislation as reports say U S air support expands in Cambodia and Laos. The Internal Revenue Service reports many early filers ignore the new peel-off label on the revised 1040 form. In the first week of 1971 as many as 10 000 of 100 000 filers failed to use or accurately complete the top section, risking delayed refunds and processing slowdowns.
