NEW YORK (UP) Stocks turned irregular just before noon after opening firmness. Trading was dull with 260000 shares in the first hour, down from 310000 yesterday. Texas Pacific Land Trust advanced to 156 while Superior Oil slipped to 546 and Alleghany rose to 140. Missouri Pacific preferred rose to 55 but eased to 544. General Motors and Chrysler showed fractional declines.

Roger Lee Brodie died after 800 hours in a deep coma following the December separation from his stronger twin Rodney Dee.
