By the associated press several North Carolina and South Carolina cities have been listed among the metropolitan categories being worked up by the Federal Energy office to be used in the event of gasoline rationing. Licensed Drivers in to metropolitan areas named thursday probably would get the lowest gasoline rations a 20 per cent less than the National Standard a while another eight areas among them Charlotte would receive to per cent less. Drivers in the to tightest rationed areas for example might be limited to 33 Gallons per month when supplies Are scarce with a possible increase to about 40 Gallons per month when supplies ease up a bit. Drivers in the eight cities that include Charlotte might be limited to 37 to 44 Gallons per month. However the Cut to Charlotte was found later to have been a mistake based on the erroneous belief that the City had two bus lines and therefore Superior local transit service. It has Only one bus line. The Energy office said it would look into the Charlotte situation again and probably put the City on the list of those whose motorists would receive full quotas should there be rationing.
