Income Reaches New Peak in 1962 Personal Income

Washington AP reports 1962 personal income rose to 440.5 billion, up 24 billion from 1961, driven by wage and salary gains. One Rescued As Ferry Sinks

A Korea coast ferry with an estimated eighty to a hundred aboard capsized in a gale off the southwest coast. One man was rescued and nine bodies recovered as the Yun ho sank four miles southwest of Mokpo after being hit by sudden gales around noon.

Blowing Rock Police Chief Shot To Death

Blowing Rock North Carolina police chief William Deane Greene 28 was fatally shot during a car stop on U S 321 near Blowing Rock while investigating burglaries. Two men Ralph Parson 22 and Millard Greer 45 and two women were in the car. Parson and Greer fled and were pursued by deputies. Greene was shot with a shotgun and knife wounds left him dead at Blowing Rock Hospital after four hours.
