New Theaters Open in High Point for 1970
Three new movie theaters opened in High Point in 1970, joining the Center and the Towne. The Trans-Lux Theatre in the Zayre Shopping Center on Westchester Drive offered first run films and re-runs with Saturday Westerns. Martin Twin Theatres at Westchester and Carey opened in late November, featuring Disney titles and other classics, as Paramount Theatre closed, leaving downtown High Point with the Center as the sole cinema.
