District Lions Hear Of Programs For Blind At Conference
At the North Carolina Lions mid winter convention in High Point Bob Frye president of the Association for the Blind outlined this year s programs and a 190800 budget. Major items include an eye bank 28500 glaucoma research at North Carolina Memorial Hospital 23000 and Camp Dogwood 25000 along with Braille transcription visual aids clinics and hospital services. The association also funds scholarships for sighted children of blind parents and supports training for blind workshops. Frye stressed better communication with Camp Dogwood and the State Commission for the Blind and defended the budget against state scrutiny. Donald Lloyd Hancock of Trinity High Point hosted the conference whereHigh Point Mayor Robert Davig welcomed the guests.
