Robert Dunlap a 21 year old Buncombe county Negro was executed in Raleigh for poisoning his sweetheart Pauline McMillan. He was the first inmate in the reconstructed death chamber of the state prison. Gas executions are set to begin next Friday and two others reportedly died from the same food. Dunlap denied guilt and said he would go home to heaven. He received two shocks and died after the second as the electrode strap broke and sparks flew.
